The Juvenile Aid Division is responsible for the investigation of criminal activity by persons who are less than 16 years of age. Investigators are also responsible for the arrest of individuals named in warrants issued by the New York State Family Court and the missing juvenile-aged persons. Other duties and responsibilities include the processing of juveniles charged with violating the applicable penal law statutes and the transporting of juveniles to secure facilities when appropriate. Officer John Carr is the officer in charge of the Juvenile Aid Division.
The Juvenile Aid Division of the Rome Police Department continues as a valuable asset to the community and also very committed to the betterment of the young people of our community. This is primarily from the dedication of the Juvenile Aid Officer and the excellent working relationship with other members of the department and also the excellent rapport that has been established with the Rome City School District, the Oneida County Family Court System and the Oneida County Probation Department. The Juvenile Aide Division will continue to act as the liaison between the youth of the community and the Juvenile Justice System.
