Indoor Park at Pinti Field

Thursday, September 09, 2010

The Indoor Park is the City of Rome Recreation Department's award-winning facility designed to encourage play and to help stimulate motor, social and psychological development among children ages 1 to 6. The park, which is located inside the clubhouse at Pinti Field at 200 Sixth Street, is open weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and also the second and forth Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. to noon.

A season’s pass to the park is $35 for Rome residents and $45 for non-residents. Day passes are also available for $3 (with a limit of $9 per family per visit) for Rome residents and $4 (with a limit of $12 per family per visit) for non-members.

“We are excited to once again offer the Indoor Park again this year,” Rich Miller, the city’s director of parks and recreation, said. “Since its inception, the Indoor Park has been one of the most popular parts of our Parks and Recreation program. Children, and parents, really look forward to going to the park and being able to engage in active and enriching play all winter long; to get out of the house during the cold winter months and to socialize and play.”

“Children need play and learn through play,” Miller added. “The more preschoolers are encouraged to lead a healthy and active lifestyle the less likely they are to suffer from childhood obesity and related health issues. Being active at a young age – and promoting and enhancing activity – are vital.”

The Indoor Park will once again be available to rent for parties and private gatherings on weekends and weeknights. Information on renting the facility is also available by contacting the department at 315-339-7656 or by e-mailing nspadafora@romecitygov.com.
