The J.F. Kennedy Civic Arena has proudly served generations of Roman’s and residents of surrounding areas since its establishment in 1964. Time has taken its toll on the Arena, making the renovation project a necessity. With the proposed renovations and expansion the Arena will continue to serve the community for many more decades.
Renovating Kennedy Arena will improve the quality of life for Rome residents. During the 2005-2006 season, more than 32,000 skaters used the facility.
The project will also act as a catalyst project for community redevelopment in the residential neighborhood that the Arena is located in. Due to its location, the Arena and municipal pool could become a key component to Weed and Seed community revitalization efforts, making the neighborhood stronger with a reduction in crime, drugs and blight.
